Helmut Vogt (Librarian)

Helmut Vogt (born April 3, 1926 in Weißenfeld an der Saale , † December 10, 1994 ) was a German librarian .

After his labor and military service, Helmut Vogt studied mathematics and physics at the Universities of Greifswald and Halle from 1946 to 1951 . He then completed his librarianship training at the German State Library in East Berlin. In 1959 he left the GDR and then worked at the Lower Saxony State and University Library in Göttingen as a specialist in natural sciences and technology. In 1967 he became deputy director, from 1974 until his retirement in 1990 director of the library. In 1989 he received the Federal Cross of Merit .

The extensive catalog Slavica Gottingensia: older Slavica in the Lower Saxony State and University Library in Göttingen , which was published in 1995 by the Wiesbaden publishing house Harrassowitz, is dedicated to Helmut Vogt, who supported and applied for the extensive project.
