The Hemmelsberg curve is a 2.4 km long railway line in the urban area of Oldenburg (Oldenburg) , which connects the Bremen – Oldenburg and Oldenburg – Osnabrück lines. It was opened on June 6, 1911 by the Grand Ducal Oldenburg State Railways and was transferred to the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1920. Until the mid-1970s it also connected the Bremen – Oldenburg railway with the Oldenburg-Krusenbusch marshalling yard. The track to the marshalling yard was interrupted with the construction of the federal motorway 28 and was no longer built due to the reduced importance of the station. Today the route is mainly used for freight traffic to Ahlhorn and Großenkneten. Continuous freight traffic from Bremen to Osnabrück is handled via the taxiway
business
The Hemmelsberg junction has been controlled by the "Opf" signal box at Oldenburg Central Station since 1966. The Tweelbäke junction was originally controlled by the "F1" signal box of the marshalling yard, and has also been remotely controlled by "Opf" since its final shutdown.
