Antje Angela Malestein (born January 31, 1993 in Spakenburg ) is a Dutch handball player .

Career

Angela Malestein played in the Netherlands from 2008 to 2011 with VOC Amsterdam and then with Sercodak Dalfsen. With the clubs she took part in the EHF Champions League , the EHF Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup. In 2012, the 1.74 meter right winger went to the German handball league at HSG Blomberg-Lippe . In summer 2014 she moved to SG BBM Bietigheim . With Bietigheim she won the German championship in 2017 and 2019. Since the 2020/21 season she has been under contract with the Hungarian first division club Ferencváros Budapest .

Malestein has played 135 caps for the Dutch national team so far , scoring 287 goals. She took part in the 2010 European Championship and the 2011 World Championship and was part of the expanded squad for the 2013 World Cup in Serbia . She also took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In 2011 she won the silver medal with the juniors at the U-19 European Championship and was elected to the tournament's All-Star team . Malestein won the silver medal at the 2016 European Championship as well as the bronze medal at the 2017 World Championship and the 2018 European Championship . At the 2019 World Cup , she won the World Cup title in the final against the Spanish selection.
