Hendrik Albertus Geldenhuys

Hendrik Albertus Geldenhuys (born August 7, 1925 , † February 8, 1990 ) was a South African diplomat .

Life

In 1960 he married Erika Diethelm; they had a daughter and a son. In 1951 he was the third class delegation secretary in the South African High Commission in London . From April 30, 1957 to June 28, 1957 he served as second-class legation secretary and chargé d'affaires in Bern . In 1971 he was counselor in Cologne . From March 15, 1975 to 1979 he was ambassador to Buenos Aires and accredited to Augusto Pinochet and Hugo Banzer Suárez . From December 1, 1980 to December 1, 1983 he was ambassador in Bern. From December 1, 1983 to 1985, he was Ambassador to Ottawa . On June 7, 1987, he was appointed ambassador to Paris. On June 19, 1987, he was not received by François Mitterrand because Pierre-André Albertini had been imprisoned in the Ciskei since October 1986 . Geldenhuys was recalled on July 20, 1987. Pierre-André Albertini was exchanged on September 7, 1987 and Geldenhuys was received by François Mitterrand on October 2, 1987 to receive the letter of accreditation.
