Heneicosapentaenoic acid is a long-chain, polyunsaturated fatty acid , with an odd number of carbon atoms. It belongs to the group of omega-3 fatty acids , their five cis - double bonds are represented by a methyl group separately. Polyenoic acid is one of the isolenic acids .

It occurs esterified as triacylglyceride in small amounts in the bubbler and in fish oils .
