Henri Lachambre

Henri Lachambre (born December 30, 1846 , † June 12, 1904 in Vagney) was a French aviation pioneer and manufacturer of hydrogen balloons and Montgolfièren . His factory was in the Paris suburb of Vaugirard.

In 1883 Lachambre built la Ville de Boulogne for M. Lhoste (crossing the English Channel), a balloon for the Tissandier brothers , one for M. Eloy and one for M. Ribeiro de Souza (a total of over 20 per year). In 1895 the tethered balloon was built for the Swiss National Exhibition in Geneva. He delivered to Alberto Santos-Dumont , to the US Army Signal Corps and to the Swedish engineer and North Pole researcher Salomon August Andrée in 1897. Together with his nephew Alexis Machuron , Lachambre wrote a book about Andrée's balloon expedition to the North Pole .

After Lachambre's death, the production was continued by his widow and E. Carton.
