Henri Warnery

Henri Warnery (born June 11, 1859 in Crissier , † September 23, 1902 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss theologian , Romance scholar and author .

Life

Warnery received his doctorate in theology from the Lausanne Academy in 1882 ( La philosophie de l'histoire de Saint Paul ) and taught at home and abroad before teaching French literature at grammar school and at the Neuchâtel Academy from 1889 . From 1900 to 1902, as a professor of French literature at the University of Lausanne, he was one of the first to teach French-speaking Swiss literature . He also worked on numerous magazines.

His work includes critical writings ( Littérature et morale 1904), collections of poems ( Poésies 1887, Sur l'alpe 1895), a prose confessional ( Le chemin d'espérance 1899) and the historical piece Le peuple vaudois , which was written in 1903 at the centenary of the canton of Vaud .
