Henriette Hanck (born July 19, 1807 in Odense , † June 19, 1846 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish writer.

Life

Marie Kirstine Henriette Hanck was the eldest of six daughters of adjunct Johan Hendrik Trützschler Hanck (1776-1840) and his wife Madseline Antoinette Iversen (1788-1851). Grandfather Christian Iversen was a printer in Odense and published a local newspaper. Henriette was in poor health, had never fully recovered from a crooked back and lived unmarried in her parents' house until she and her mother moved from Odense to Copenhagen a year after the death of her father. In her youth she published poems in her grandfather's newspaper and gave the first of her two books, “Aunt Anna. An Autumn Sketch ”(1838), out. The year after the move came “A Writer's Daughter” (1842), and when she died the manuscript for a third novel was being prepared. The manuscript of this book has not survived. She translated the book “Tante Anna” into German herself. About 100 years after her death, a two-part work of her correspondence with Hans Christian Andersen "Correspondence between HC Andersen and Henriette Hanck 1830-1846" (1941-1946) was published.
