Zbigniew Henrique Morozowicz (born August 29, 1934 in Curitiba , Paraná , † February 18, 2008 ibid), known as Henrique de Curitiba , was a Brazilian composer of Polish descent. He chose the stage name Henrique de Curitiba in order to become known in Brazil and abroad under a name that is easier to pronounce and more common.

Morozowicz was born there as the son of descendants of Polish emigrants who came to Curitiba in 1873; his father was a dancer and choreographer and made a name for himself at La Scala in Milan ; his mother was a passable pianist, which aroused and encouraged his musical interest. He graduated from the city's music and art school in 1953 and also worked as an organist at Curitiba Cathedral. Morowicz then entered the Escola Livre de Música in São Paulo to deepen his studies in piano with Henry Jolles and in composition with HJ Koellreuter . In 1960 he took advanced courses in Poland.

In 1981 Morowicz received a “Master's Degree” from Cornell University at Ithaca College in New York , under the guidance of the American composer Karel Husa , and became an internationally renowned composer under his pseudonym Henrique de Curitiba .

Morozowicz has written more than 150 works, including many pieces for choral music.
