Life

Alexander began studying human medicine in Halle / Saale in 1966. From 1972 he received his specialist training in gynecology at the university women's clinic there. From 1982 to 1983 Henry Alexander supported the Gondar College of Medical Sciences at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia as an Associate Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics. After obtaining his doctorate (1973) and habilitation (1983), he moved to the Leipzig University Women's Clinic in 1984. Here he founded the working group for reproductive medicine and gynecological endocrinology. The first test-tube babies in Saxony were born in 1985 with his support. This made them one of the first centers in Germany to successfully carry out artificial insemination.

In 1990, he was appointed director of the newly established department for human reproduction and endocrinology at the Leipzig University Women's Clinic and, three years later, finally deputy director of the clinic. A year later he received the professorship in his department. In 1995 he became head of the training center for endoscopy of the AGE of the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics and also founded an endometriosis center and a center for women with habitual abortion tendencies. In the same year he was chairman of the examination committee for gynecological endocrinology and reproductive medicine of the Saxon State Medical Association . Two years later, Henry Alexander received the license to train for the entire subject. This was followed by the authorization as an expert in the field of gynecology and obstetrics and in 2003 the specialization in the field of sexual medicine. After his retirement in April 2012, after a 10-year development period, he realized the worldwide unique biosensor OvulaRing for cicadian and circamensual measurement of core body temperature. Studies have shown that the continuous measurement of the core body temperature as a biomarker using OvulaRing enables a clear statement to be made about the time of ovulation and the fertility window.

Henry Alexander is married and has three children.
