Henry English Read

Henry English Read (born December 25, 1824 in LaRue County , Kentucky , † November 9, 1868 in Elizabethtown , Kentucky) was a Confederate politician . In November 1861 he was elected to the First Confederate Congress for the Third Constituency of Kentucky , where he took up his post on February 18, 1862. He ran successfully for the second Confederate Congress and was then active there until 1865. Read died about three years after the end of the Civil War by suicide . His body was interred in Elizabethtown City Cemetery, Hardin County . With his wife Lottie C. "Lott" (1834-1903) he had three children together: William D. (1855-1883), Mary D. (1859-1859) and Thomas Doran (1861-1862).
