The Henry Hudson Bridge is predominantly a steel built toll bridge in New York City . It connects the Bronx with the northern end of Manhattan .

As early as 1930 Robert Moses planned the Henry Hudson Parkway , which was to lead from the west side of Manhattan to the city limits of New York. Construction of the Henry Hudson Bridge began in June 1935 and was completed on December 12, 1936. In July 1938, the upper level was connected. In 1940 Robert Moses merged the Henry Hudson Parkway Authority to form the larger Triborough Bridge Authority (now MTA Bridges and Tunnels ).

The bridge was designed by David B. Steinman and was the longest arched bridge in the world with a length of 673 m when it opened . It has a pedestrian path and two carriageway levels that have a total of seven lanes. The upper level is for traffic to the Bronx and the lower level is for traffic to Manhattan. The Henry Hudson Bridge spans the Spuyten Duyvil Creek with a span of 256 meters and a height of 44 meters and connects Manhattan with the Bronx. It is part of the Henry Hudson Parkway and is listed as New York State Route 9A.
