Henry Thynne (politician, 1832)

Lord Henry Frederick Thynne PC ( August 2, 1832 - January 28, 1904 ) was a British politician and courtier who was elected five times as a member of the House of Commons .

Henry Thynne came from the British Thynne family . He was the second son of Lord Henry Thynne and Harriet Baring. His father became 3rd Marquess of Bath in 1837 after the childless death of his older brother and father  , but died on June 24, 1837, so that Henry's older brother John became heir to the title and the extensive estates of the Thynne family . In the general election of 1859 he was elected to the Conservative Party for South Wiltshire. In the next four elections he was re-elected before he was not re-elected as a candidate for West Wiltshire in 1885 and left the House of Commons . Under Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli he was Treasurer of the Household from 1875 to 1880 and therefore became a member of the Privy Council in 1876 . He was also Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire and Major of the Wiltshire Yeomanry Cavalry .

Thynne had married Lady Ulrica St. Maur Seymour on June 1, 1858, the second daughter of Edward Seymour, 12th Duke of Somerset and his wife Jane Sheridan. He had six children with her:
