Henry de Winter (born September 24, 1959 in Berlin ) is a German singer who dedicated himself to the music of the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.

Life

De Winter grew up in a middle-class environment in Berlin-Steglitz . His father was a civil servant, his mother a housewife. His grandfather played several musical instruments and kept house music . He made his first appearance at the age of six at the Christmas Oratorio in the village church in Alt-Lankwitz . 1967–1971 de Winter received boarding school education in London , after which he went to Fichtenberg High School in West Berlin . He was engaged in various school choirs throughout his school years and performed there repeatedly as a soloist .

The period of the 1920s and 1930s fascinated him so much that he adapted his appearance to this time - professionally and supposedly also privately. The music remained his main concern. He took singing lessons from January 1991 to December 1992 with Eddy Rhein . In 1992 he joined the “Elite Artists Orchestra” as a singer. In 1993 the collaboration began with the well-known DEFA composer Peter Gotthart (music for Puhdys Wenn ein Mensch Leben from the film Die Legende von Paul und Paula ) and his sound film Orchester Berlin. This resulted in the CDs Vol. 1 - The Unknown Recordings , Vol. 2 - The Voice of a Lord and Vol. 3 - My Ladies , as well as the video You Are My Lucky Star .

Since 1998 de Winter has performed with the “ Bratislava Hot Serenaders”, later as “Henry de Winter & His Hot Serenaders” with whom he a. a. Gave concerts in the Konzerthaus Berlin . He took part in the revue “The crazy salon” in the Renaissance theater . The German-speaking public, he is in the scene of Bernd Michael Lade A worthy house known (1995). Volker Schlöndorff engaged him for a short appearance in his film Der Unhold (1996) alongside John Malkovich and Gottfried John . In 1998 he worked in the film The Hairdresser and the Millionaire by Wilfried Herbst.
