The type DH 630 from Henschel & Sohn was a standard gauge works railway and shunting locomotive with diesel-hydraulic drive and rod drive with the axle arrangement D. It was developed in the 1950s and belongs to the second generation of Henschel locomotives after the Second World War .

history

Characteristics of the locomotives were that they were designed with largely rounded shapes, which were modified after the war compared to the first generation. In addition, the front end of the locomotives was beveled to provide a better view of the route from the driver's cab. Two machines were manufactured and sent to the Royal Netherlands. Hoogovens & Staalfabriek in IJmuiden sold.

technical description

These are front-mounted locomotives with a central driver's cab that were developed for frequent shunting maneuvers. The power transmission took place with a rod drive . The shunting locomotives had a high overall mass and a low speed range. The stems of the locomotives were almost the same length.

As engineer a six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine is MAN used a power of 630 hp to a fluid transmission from Voith gave. The locomotives reached a top speed of 30 km / h. As with most rod locomotives, the drive was equipped with a Beugniot lever for better cornering .

commitment

The locomotives were in service at the steel works in IJmuiden for ten years and then were turned off. In 1967 they were brought back to Germany.

While one locomotive was sold directly to Italy , the other came to the Mindener Kreisbahnen , where it was given the number V 14 . During her 13-year service she was given the designation V3 in 1980 . It was also sold to Italy in the mid-1980s.
