The Henschel Hs 127 was a German high-speed bomber produced by Henschel Flugzeug-Werke AG .

development

The aircraft was designed in 1937 as a twin-engine high-speed bomber and was a cantilever low-wing aircraft in light metal construction with retractable normal landing gear. The Hs 127 was powered by two DB-600-D engines with 950 hp each. Only two test models were produced until 1938, with the V-1 breaking during one flight. The third prototype V-3 was no longer completed.

Since the planned DB-600 engines proved to be unreliable in other aircraft types, the installation of the more powerful DB 601 engine, equipped with direct fuel injection, was planned.

Due to the high speed, there was no defensive armament. The machine was outwardly and tactically similar to the basic design of the later very successful de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito .
