Heptatoma pellucens is a fly from the family of brakes (Tabanidae).

features

The flies reach a body length of 9 to 14 millimeters. Their body has a black base color and is hairy gray-brown. In the female, the second tergite has large white spots on the sides of the abdomen. The thighs ( femora ) are black, the tibiae of the front pair of legs are colored at the base, the remaining tibiae are almost completely white. The antennae look like six. The wings are transparent.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is distributed from Western Europe to Siberia and is rarely found.
