Herb Berger

Herbert "Herb" Berger (* 1969 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian modern jazz musician who not only plays saxophones and other woodwind instruments , but also keyboards and harmonica .

Live and act

Berger began to learn the clarinet at the age of 7 and initially played brass music . He studied saxophone and arrangement at the Vienna Conservatory and completed workshops with Pat Metheny , Jimmy Giuffre and David Sanborn . Since 1988 he has worked as a freelance artist. Among others, he worked with Ray Anderson , Herb Ellis (on a CD by the organist TC Pfeiler ), Theo Bleckmann , Jon Hendricks and Kurt Elling , James Morrison , Barbara Dennerlein and the vocal group Take 6 . As a studio musician, he was involved in numerous television, radio and theater productions.

Berger composed and arranged for the Lungau Big Band ( 15 Years Later , Live at Montreux ). In 2010 he released his debut album The Bitter End . He was also involved in productions by Willi Resetarits ( Stubnblues ), the Jazz Bigband Graz ( Electric Poetry & Lo-Fi Cookies ) and his wife, Sabina Hank ( Music in a Mirror , evening songs ). As a soloist he has been a guest at jazz festivals in Copenhagen, Bournemouth, London, Utrecht, Montreux, Stuttgart and Salzburg.
