Herb Douglas
Herb Douglas ( Herbert Paul Douglas Jr .; born March 9, 1922 in Pittsburgh ) is a former American long jumper .
In 1945 he was US outdoor champion, in 1947 and 1949 indoor.
In 1948 he qualified with his personal best of 7.69 m for the Olympic Games in London . There he won the bronze medal with 7.545 m behind his compatriot Willie Steele (7.825 m) and the Australian Theo Bruce (7.555 m).
