Life

Herbert Beck first learned as a bookseller before he made up his Abitur on the second educational path to become a teacher . In 1976, however, he broke off his studies prematurely, went on hitchhiking and then worked as a window cleaner, driver, stage lighting technician and a few others. He also wrote short stories, reviews and chansons, which he performed on the guitar. His first long-playing record was released in January 1980 under the title "Apocalypse" (on: the other song 201 078-315). In the same year he appeared at the Nuremberg Bardentreffen .

When the first local radio stations broadcast their programs in the greater Nuremberg area in 1986, he was there from the start. He started at Radio F and later switched to Radio Charivari 98.6 Nuremberg . He had gained experience with the radio medium at Bayerischer Rundfunk since the mid-1970s . In 1979, his short story “Die Frau am Tresen” was set to music in the program “Pop Sunday”. 1990 began his career in local television.

“Sekt or Selters?” Was the famous introductory question with which he began his popular program Play Beck for years on FF Franken TV .

In 1994 he wrote the Christmas film "Siller or the miraculous change" and played the leading male role. His wife Juliane Beck, with whom he appeared on the regional cabaret, also belonged to the ensemble. He also wrote the series “Die Mühle” for FF Franconia TV, in which he also played. Towards the end of the 1990s he produced and hosted the series “The Becks on the move” together with his wife and cameraman Hans Batz, Fürth, in which beautiful landscapes and culinary specialties were presented once a week. This resulted in 65 programs.

Beck's television career ended with the end of FF Franken television in Erlangen. In the 2000s he worked at GFI in Erlangen and as a homework supervisor at schools.

Herbert Beck died in March 2015 shortly before his 66th birthday after a long, serious illness.
