Herbert Bresching

Herbert Bresching (born May 7, 1911 in Zossen ; † June 2, 1966 in Berlin ) was a German racing cyclist .

Athletic career

His cycling career began in 1929 with the RV Mittenwalde club . In 1931 he moved to the RV Eiche Zossen association . After taking first place in the 1931 race around the Stettiner Haff , he was promoted to the A-class for amateurs .
In 1936 he had to say goodbye to cycling due to a persistent stomach ailment. He worked in the chemical-technical branch without continuing to do sports. In 1942 he was recalled as having recovered and drafted into the Wehrmacht . He had the opportunity to train back on the wheel and tried as stayer . In 1943 he won the Bochum street prize during a vacation, as well as the race around the Hainleite .

After the end of the Second World War , he became a professional driver in 1946 and finished in third place that year around Berlin , in 1947 he came second behind Hans Preiskeit . After completing his active career, he switched to pacemaker and competed in standing races. In six-day races he was involved in the organization several times, where he was responsible for the drivers' awards.
