Herbert Otto Brintzinger

Herbert Otto Brintzinger (born February 2, 1898 in Eßlingen , † November 20, 1969 in Tübingen ) was a German chemist.

Brintzinger studied chemistry at the TH Stuttgart from 1918 and was awarded a Dr. Ing. PhD. He then worked as an assistant at the TH Stuttgart and the TH Breslau and for two years headed a ceramic factory in Trento . From 1925 he was at the University of Jena , after his habilitation in 1927 he was a private lecturer, in 1933 an extraordinary professor and in 1938 an extraordinary professor for technical chemistry. After the Second World War he was visiting professor at the TH Stuttgart in 1948, from 1949 head of research at the Scheufelen paper mill in Oberlenningen and from 1950 to 1952 director of the research institute for pigments, lacquers and lacquer raw materials in Stuttgart.

He dealt with protective colloids , dialysis (with which he developed a method for determining the size of dissolved particles) and in 1931 developed a method of catalytic wastewater treatment. Later he dealt with the production of metallic coatings and pigment colors.

He is the father of the chemist Hans-Herbert Brintzinger .
