Herbert Eibensteiner

Herbert Eibensteiner (born August 25, 1963 in Linz ) is an Austrian manager. He's since 2012 Board Member of Voestalpine AG and since July 3, 2019 Chairman of the Board .

Life

Herbert Eibensteiner studied mechanical engineering / business administration at the Technical University of Vienna , graduating in 1988 with a degree in engineering . He completed postgraduate training at the Linz Management Academy (LIMAK).

In 1989 he began his professional career at voestalpine as a maintenance engineer, and from 1993 to 2000 he held various management positions in the areas of cold rolling mill maintenance, quality management, occupational safety and environmental protection. In 2000 he became the technical director of Voestalpine Krems GmbH .

In 2012 he was appointed member of the voestalpine AG Executive Board and head of the Metal Forming Division . In October 2014 he returned from Krems an der Donau to Linz and took over the management of the Steel Division from Wolfgang Eder . In 2016, a direct reduction plant was opened in Corpus Christi , Texas .

In June 2018, Wolfgang Eder announced that he would be leaving the Voestalpine Management Board in mid-2019. Herbert Eibensteiner was appointed CEO of Voestalpine AG by the Supervisory Board starting on July 3, 2019.

Eibensteiner has been one of the vice-presidents of the European steel association Eurofer since 2014 . In June 2019 he was elected Vice President of the Upper Austrian Federation of Industry .
