Eurofer (own spelling EUROFER ) is the trade association for the European iron and steel industry .
history
The association was founded in 1976 , is a non-profit organization and is based in Brussels . All steel producers in the EU are members. Large Swiss and Turkish steel companies as well as the Swiss and Turkish Steel Business Associations are associated members.
Bodies
The association's bodies are the General Assembly and the Board of Directors. The association has a President, a Vice-President and a Director General, Gordon Moffat. On October 1, 2014, Axel Eggert, previously head of the Public Affairs department, will take over the management.
Areas of activity
The association does public relations for steel and the steel industry and represents common interests of its members and the European steel industry at governments, administrative units (e.g. national ministries, general directorates and directorates of the EU ), social groups (e.g. political parties , non-governmental organizations ) and towards the public. One example is his use in the steel dispute between the European Union and the United States .
Eurofer emphasizes adhering to the antitrust laws :
“Such activities do not raise antitrust concern. Though coordinated with or among members, they do not relate to members' market activities. “Joint lobbying” is no antitrust open. On the contrary, trade associations act in the public interest because they collect and bundle information from members and enable them to speak with one voice. "
“Such activities do not raise antitrust concerns. Although they are coordinated with members (or the members coordinate among themselves), they are not related to members' market activities. On the contrary - industry associations act in the public interest because they collect and bundle information from members and enable them to speak with one language. "
