Herbert Gutschera

Herbert Gutschera (born June 23, 1942 ; † August 3, 2003 ) was a Roman Catholic theologian , religious educator and church historian .

Life

Gutschera was Professor of Catholic Theology / Religious Education at the Pedagogical University of Esslingen . After the university was closed in 1984, he moved to the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Education and was then appointed professor at the Ludwigsburg University of Education . With the investigation of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation within church historiography by Johann Matthias Schröckh , he received his doctorate in 1973 at the University of Tübingen . In 2003 he was killed in a car accident. He became best known through his publications with Jörg Thierfelder. Their book on the history of the churches was also published in Italian under the title Storia delle chiese in prospettiva ecumenica , translated by Elisabetta Pluda.
