Herbert Haas (politician, 1928)

Herbert Haas (born February 5, 1928 in Niederschrems , † August 15, 2006 in Gmünd ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and elementary school teacher. Haas was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1966 to 1983 .

Life

After completing compulsory school, Haas attended the teacher training institute in Znojmo and graduated from the federal teacher training institute in Vienna in 1949. He initially worked as an unskilled worker and began teaching in Lower Austria in 1950. He was appointed elementary school teacher and high school councilor.

In the political arena, Haas became involved with the Austrian Children's Friends in Schrems from 1949 and was elected chairman of the SPÖ Niederschrems in 1951. He worked as a functionary of the Socialist Teachers' Association of Austria and in 1958 took over the function of district chairman of the SPÖ Gmünd. In addition, he was a member of the regional party representation of the SPÖ Lower Austria, was from 1960 municipal council of the city of Schrems and from 1962 to 1974 a member of the commercial vocational school council for Lower Austria. Haas also held the function of a member of the presidium and board of the SPÖ Lower Austria and was mayor of Schrems from 1970 to 1975.

Haas represented the SPÖ from March 30, 1966 to May 18, 1983 in the National Council.
