Herbert Heitmann

Herbert Heitmann (* 1901 ; has been missing since the capture of Budapest in 1945) was a doctor of law and mayor of the cities of Itzehoe and Magdeburg .

Heitmann came from Lauenburg , had worked as a lawyer and notary in Itzehoe since 1929, and had been the Itzehoe local group leader of the NSDAP since 1932. As a local group leader, he was appointed mayor of Itzehoes in 1934 in place of the retiring acting mayor Nappe . His activity ended when he was called up for military service in 1939 and was appointed mayor of Magdeburg in 1940. Kurt Petersen was appointed his successor on June 14, 1940 .

During Heitmann's tenure, the regional court was relocated from Altona to Itzehoe in 1937 and the 700th anniversary of the city of Itzehoe in 1938, on the occasion of which the Germanic grave was inaugurated.
