Kurt Petersen

Kurt Petersen (born December 31, 1904 in Kiel ; † 1971 ) was a lawyer and mayor of Lauenburg / Elbe and Itzehoe for the NSDAP .

Life

Petersen was born the son of a teacher and his wife Emilie (née Schröder). From the age of six to 18 he went to the Reform Realgymnasium in Kiel . From 1923 he studied in Kiel. In March 1928 he presented his dissertation.

Petersen joined the NSDAP in June 1932. On January 26, 1933, he took over the local NSDAP group in Lauenburg from his predecessor Edgar Dräger , who had to leave the party in 1933. On April 28, 1933, he replaced Max Meiling (in office since 1923) provisionally as mayor. In September 1934 he was finally appointed mayor by the regional president in Schleswig and remained so until June 1940. In Lauenburg he lived at Hitlerstrasse 16 (formerly Weingarten ).

From 1940 to 1945 he was mayor of the city of Itzehoe. On the night of Sunday, April 3, 1949, he and his wife attempted suicide by taking Luminal .
