Life

Little information is available about the life of Pablo Minguet é Irol. His publications known today began in 1733 and ended in 1775. According to the historian Saldoni from the second half of the nineteenth century, he died in 1801. - Minguet also referred to himself as an engraver . He published a variety of writings on religious and entertainment subjects. He wrote and printed textbooks for self-study of musical instruments such as the dulcimer or the guitar and the timple , a total of writings on thirteen instruments. He also published books on learning to dance in the French and Spanish styles and reproduced the choreographic instructions in engravings. In his writings there are also compositions that are ascribed to him.

Minguet thus satisfied the Spanish bourgeoisie's growing need for musical activity, independent of the courtly ceremonies of the nobility.

Aftermath

The Minguet Quartet , founded in 1988, chose him as their namesake for this reason:

"The namesake is Pablo Minguet, a Spanish philosopher of the 18th century who tried in his writings to give the general public access to the fine arts: the Minguet Quartet feels more committed than ever to this idea on its concert tours."
