Herbert Jamison
Herbert Brotherson Jamison (born September 17, 1875 in Peoria , Illinois , † June 22, 1938 ibid), a US student at Princeton University , was a participant in the first Olympic Games in Athens in 1896 . He competed for the USA and finished second in the 400-meter run on the second day of competition, April 7th (March 26th *), in a time of 55.2 seconds. On the first day of the competition, April 6th (March 25th *), Jamison won the first elimination run over 400 meters ahead of the German Fritz Hofmann . With it he got the Olympic record over this distance for one day.
