Herbert Kaufmann (politician)

Herbert Kaufmann (born October 27, 1949 in Mödling ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and board member of Flughafen Wien AG. Kaufmann was a member of the National Council from 1994 to 1999 .

education and profession

After attending primary school in Brunn am Gebirge, Kaufmann moved to the Bundesrealgymnasium Mödling from 1960 to 1964. He then graduated from the Mödling technical college between 1964 and 1969, specializing in mechanical engineering and, after graduating from high school in 1969, studied economics at the University of Vienna from 1970 and 1974 . Kaufmann graduated in 1974 with the academic degree Mag. Rer. soc. oec. from.

After graduating from high school, Kaufmann took on various activities as a designer in the field of mechanical engineering from 1969 to 1975 and joined the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Lower Austria in 1975 . In 1977 he was promoted to head of the economic department and in 1985 took over the post of director of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees in Lower Austria, which he held until 1999. After the end of his political career, Kaufmann was appointed spokesman for the board of directors of Flughafen Wien AG in 1999. In 2008 he was also elected to the board of ACI Europe, the association of European airport operators. At the end of 2010 Herbert Kaufmann resigned from the management board of Flughafen AG after the Skylink debacle, but was then given a two-year consultancy contract.

Kaufmann was a member of the municipal council of Brunn am Gebirge between 1979 and 1992 and represented the SPÖ in the Lower Austrian state parliament between 1988 and 1994. In 1993 he was elected district chairman of the SPÖ Mödling and subsequently represented the SPÖ between November 7, 1994 and August 31, 1999 in the National Council.
