Herbert Lemmel

Herbert Edmund Lemmel (born May 29, 1911 in Pleißa ; † 1990 ) was a German lawyer and genealogist.

Life

He studied law in Leipzig and Königsberg (Prussia) . In Berlin he received his doctorate in 1938 with a dissertation on the racist legal historian Ludwig Kuhlenbeck (with an introduction by Falk Ruttke ) and completed his habilitation in 1939 under Reinhard Höhn with the work "The Volksgemeinschaft, their recording in the law becoming". In 1940 he was appointed professor of the new order at the University of Berlin, where he taught “Racial Foundations of Law”. He was SS-Obersturmführer .

In World War II he was a captain and was taken prisoner by Russia. After 1950 he was a commercial judge in Frankfurt, then a businessman and manufacturer in Bad Homburg . He later lived in Fürth and did family and medieval nobility research.
