Herbert Ney (born September 7, 1955 ) is a former German soccer player.
Career
Ney played with FC 08 Homburg in the 2nd Bundesliga . He was best known for his extraordinary performance in a DFB Cup game on October 15, 1977 in which the then second division Homburg defeated the reigning World Cup winner FC Bayern Munich 3-1 in front of over twenty thousand spectators in the sold-out Waldstadion at home . He played in midfield and played a total of 93 second division games for Homburg, scoring 14 goals.
