The Herbert Range is a mountain range in the Antarctic Ross Dependency , which extends from the edge of the polar plateau between the Axel-Heiberg and Strøm glaciers to the Ross Ice Shelf . Mount Fridtjof Nansen , Mount Balchen and Mount Betty belong to him .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the mountain range after the British polar explorer Wally Herbert (1934-2007), leader of the southern group of the 1961-1962 campaign as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition , which covered the area around the Axel- Heiberg Glacier explored.
