Herbert Schönberner

Herbert Schönberner (* 1949 in Cologne ) is a German chef .

Career

After his training in the Cologne stock exchange restaurant , Schönberner went to the Palast Hotel in Wengen in Switzerland and the Frankfurt city ​​hotel in 1968 . Schönberner then returned to Cologne and worked for around a year and a half at the Hotel Excelsior as a demi-chef.

In 1970 he became head chef at the Goldener Pflug restaurant , which opened in 1937 and recently had a Michelin star . In 1974 it was awarded two Michelin stars . In 1982 three stars were awarded, as the first restaurant with a German chef ( Eckart Witzigmann is Austrian, Heinz Winkler is South Tyrolean). This top award from the Michelin Guide was awarded for six years - until 1987.

In 1998 he opened his own restaurant "Schönberner" in Cologne. In 2001 he went to the Seehotel Überfahrt for a short period of time . Soon after, he retired.
