history
prehistory
A farmstead on the Egener Strand near Hoissen has been documented since 1427 . In 1740 the first "Höß" moved up there, a farmer's son from Hagn in Enterrottach. Long before that, the property had been given the privilege to operate the “crossing”, i.e. the ferry. On June 24, 1873, Joseph Höß was granted the restaurant license .
1892: tourist room, theater hall, hospital
In 1892 he set up the first tourist room and built the famous theater hall in 1903. Thus began a social life in Egerner Gstad with theater performances, farmer weddings, club events, carnival balls etc., which lasted almost four decades. In 1905, a gala evening was held on the occasion of the 1st major winter sports festival in Tegernsee. Emil Ganghofer, the brother of Ludwig Ganghofer , showed the first cinema screening there with a huge locomobile as the electricity supplier.
On August 12, 1910, Ludwig Thomas Drama First Class was premiered by the Tegernsee Bauernbühne. In 1930, Kiem Pauli organized the first Upper Bavarian award singing in the theater of the "Überfahrt" inn. Until the Second World War, the crossing was the social focus in the Tegernsee valley.
Like many other hotels, the “Überfahrt” inn served as a hospital during World War II. One of the leading doctors was Professor Dr. Karl Friedrich Scheid , who managed to hand over the Tegernsee valley to the advancing US Army without a fight .
1949: Hotel
In 1949 Jost Hurler married the owner of the “Zur Überfahrt” inn on the Tegernsee. With his wife, Hurler converted the inn into a hotel . In 1950 he moved his company headquarters to Munich.
2001: new building
In 1991, after several renovations, the owners decided to build a completely new building, which was completed in 2001. They invested around 200 million DM in the construction. The work on the skylight glazing, the glass dome and the glass of the swimming pool hall was carried out in 2000 by the artist Thierry Boissel. Initially, the building did not meet with the approval of the local population. The owners of the old hotel and the builders of the new hotel, the Hurler family, were insulted as "landscape molesters" and "traitors to their homeland". Der Spiegel described the house as a "swanky luxury holiday home".
Initially, the Dorint Group was found to operate and the hotel was run as the Dorint Hotel . As of June 2001, the German Koch took over for a short time Herbert Schönberner the management of the gourmet - restaurants Schönberner in crossing . As part of a few changes of name and operator, the hotel Überfahrt was later run as Dorint Sofitel and finally as Sofitel of the Accor hotel chain .
In May 2005 the Bilderberg conference took place in the hotel .
Even today, as it has been for 500 years, it is possible to cross over from the Seehotel Überfahrt to the Point peninsula at the narrowest point of the Tegernsee, the entrance to the Egener Bay .
2007: Althoff
The hotel has been operated by the Althoff Hotels chain since 2007 . The hotelier Thomas H. Althoff is the managing director and owner of the hotel chain . The owner of the Seehotel is the Jost und Josefine Hurler Seehotel Überfahrt GmbH & Co KG. The Seehotel has 134 rooms, 54 suites , several conference rooms, a spa area of over 2000 square meters , its own beach club on the lake, a bar and four restaurants, including a gourmet restaurant. Interior designer Anna Maria Jagdfeld was one of the outfitters. The equipment was supplemented by black and white pictures by the artist Silke Lauffs. The spa was remodeled in 2013.
Gourmet restaurant Überfahrt
In 2008 Christian Jürgens , the head chef of the gourmet restaurant Überfahrt , was named Chef of the Year by Der Feinschmecker . In 2010 the gourmet restaurant was awarded the top rating of 5 F by Der Feinschmecker as Restaurant of the Year .
