Herbert Sieronski
Herbert Sieronski (born November 8, 1906 in Berlin , † 1945 in the Soviet Union ) was a German racing cyclist .
In 1928 Herbert Sieronski won Rund um Leipzig . Professional -Radrennfahrer he was from 1930 to 1937. Three times he started with the national team at the Tour de France , in 1931 he was ranked No. 20 and in 1932 ranked 39th twice - 1930 and 1937 - he won stages in the Tour of Germany . In 1932 he was third in Paris-Roubaix , won Marseille-Lyon and in 1933 the Circuit du Mont-Blanc . In 1934 he took third place in Berlin – Cottbus – Berlin .
His former teammate Kurt Stöpel devoted a whole chapter to Herbert Sieronski in his book Tour de France . Sieronski's advice to Stöpel has been handed down: "Grit your teeth and eat a rice cake." He died in 1945 as a Soviet prisoner of war. In 1948 (winner: Otto Ziege ) and 1949 a "Herbert Sieronski Memorial Race" was held in Berlin.
