Herbert Uppendahl

Herbert Uppendahl (* 1944 ; † 1989 ) was a German political scientist.

Life

Uppendahl studied English, history and political science at the Universities of Marburg and Freiburg, where he received his doctorate in 1975 with a thesis on the political novel under Wilhelm Hennis . From 1975 to 1982 Uppendahl was an academic advisor in political science at the PH Westfalen-Lippe in Münster (since 1980 Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität). In 1981 he received his habilitation in political science at the Westphalian Wilhelms University , accepted the position of professor at the University of Nuremberg-Erlangen and in 1983 was appointed professor for political science with a focus on comparative government and didactics of political education at the Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg appointed. There he was Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences from 1985–86 and Vice President of the University from 1986–88. From 1988 to 1989 he taught as visiting professor at the University of Seattle (USA).
