Herbert Weiermann

Herbert Weiermann (born April 20, 1929 in Pottenstein ; died December 6, 2016 in Traunstein ) was a German art historian .

Life

Herbert Weiermann studied art history, archeology and modern German literature at the Philosophical-Theological University in Regensburg and at the University of Munich . He received his doctorate in 1956 in Munich with Hans Sedlmayr on the subject of "The South German Organ Prospect of the 17th and 18th Centuries" and completed his habilitation at the Technical University of Munich in 1965 on the subject of "Castle building in Bavaria, Swabia and Franconia: the history of its development" . From 1956 to 1972 he worked as a research assistant, from 1972 to 1994 as a university professor (associate professor) at the chair for art history at the Technical University of Munich . From 1957 to 2000 he held a teaching position there for the history of architecture and later also for the history of garden art. In 1997 Weiermann received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
