Herder sponsorship award
The Herder Prize has been awarded since 2011 to students and doctoral candidates at German-speaking universities who deal with technically or artistically demanding work, in particular with the life's work of Johann Gottfried Herder . The prize is awarded by the Evangelical Lutheran Church District Weimar, the Sophien- und Hufelandklinikum Weimar and the Diakoniestiftung Weimar Bad Lobenstein . The Herder Prize is awarded and presented annually on August 25th in the Herder Church Weimar as part of Herder's birthday .
The jury awards the Herder sponsorship award and, if submissions are appropriate, further recognitions for special works.

- 2016: Mariano González, Weimar, for a bachelor thesis on church music in the Renaissance and in the 20th century
- 2017: Hanna Schmal, Weimar, for her master's thesis The Gregorian Choral in Music Classes
- 2018: Christian Andrés Parra Sánchez, Halle, for his master's thesis (industrial design) with references to xenophobia and racism
- 2019: Friederike Bücherl, Weimar, for a bachelor thesis on church music in Tanzania
