Heribert Simons

Heribert Simons (born December 24, 1937 in Düsseldorf ) is a German sports psychologist and university professor .

Life

Simons' doctoral thesis entitled "A contribution to checking the validity of the Rosenzweig picture-frustration test: (Form for children)" was accepted at the University of Bonn in 1966 . From 1969 he worked as a research assistant at the Psychological Institute of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, particularly in the field of school psychology. In 1973 he completed his habilitation in Heidelberg , the subject of his thesis was "The self-image as an important variable for understanding human behavior".

In 1976 he became professor of sports psychology at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and remained so until 2000. For the 1984 “Handbuch Sport. Scientific foundations of teaching and training ”, Simons contributed to the section on sports psychology. During his academic career, he dealt among other things with the topics“ Emotional and social components of the learning and performance of sports teams ”, with communication between science and practice from a perspective sports psychology, the social climate in competition teams, with intelligence tests, with the "effects of university-specific conditions on the behavior of students", with psychological adaptation in old age, intelligence and school performance as well as statistics and realism.
