Heribert Steinbauer

Heribert Steinbauer (born March 29, 1935 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Steinbauer was a member of the National Council from 1975 to 1994 .

Steinbauer completed compulsory school and studied philosophy, psychology and comparative linguistics at the universities of Vienna and Freiburg im Breisgau . He worked in the metal industry in Germany from 1959 to 1960 and between 1962 and 1964 and between 1960 and 1962 at the Institute of European Studies in Vienna / Chicago.

Steinbauer represented the ÖVP from November 4, 1975 to November 6, 1994 in the National Council, and from 1975 he held the function of ÖVP media spokesman. He was also head of documentation between 1964 and 1967 and then head of the politics department of the federal party leadership of the ÖVP until 1979. In addition, he was active as ÖVP General Secretary from 1967 to 1970 and Deputy General Secretary of the ORF from 1970 to 1975. Steinbauer also worked in various bodies such as the listener and viewer representation and was a member of the ORF board of trustees. Steinbauer led the election campaigns for the National Council elections in 1975, 1983 and 1986 and also led the election campaign for the Federal Presidential elections in 1974 and 1986. He was also the office manager of Alois Mock . Steinbauer was last from November 26, 1996 to May 9, 2001 deputy district mayor in the district of Neubau .

After his political career, Heribert Steinbauer works as a publisher and runs Edition Steinbauer in Vienna.
