Schweizer Holz (until May 2019: Sign of Origin Swiss Wood , HSH) is a label or a sign of origin of the Swiss forest and wood industry that proves the Swiss origin of wood and wood products.

use

The label is awarded by the association Lignum Holzwirtschaft Schweiz , the umbrella organization of the Swiss forest and timber industry. It is used in the entire wood chain: From forestry and sawmill to the timber trade and carpenter to the retailer:

  • Companies that want to use the label must apply for a usage permit. To do this, they must meet certain requirements.
  • Commercial products can be marked with the label if they contain a certain minimum proportion of wood of Swiss origin.
  • Object labeling : objects and components such as B. Construction objects, structures or facades can be marked with the label.

The condition for the company certification and the property award is usually a Swiss wood share of at least 80% and at least 60% of the added value must take place in Switzerland or in the Principality of Liechtenstein .

The “Swiss Wood” label is a registered trademark . The red or black logo shows stylized cuts like those made in the sawmill and a white Swiss cross . The term “Swiss wood” is translated to: “Bois Suisse” ( French ), “Legno Svizzero” ( Italian ) and “Swiss Wood” ( English ). It can be supplemented with a cantonal claim , such as B. “Rooted in St. Gallen”. In the case of official documents, the logo is provided with the company's own Lignum ID.
