Werner Zachow

Werner Zachow (born May 25, 1944 ) is a former CDU functionary in the GDR . He was chairman of the Frankfurt (Oder) district board of the CDU.

Life

Zachow learned the profession of optician . He became a member of the CDU in 1970 and initially worked in industry and in management positions. After studying political science, he took on the role of a member of the council for local utilities in the Neuruppin district . Through distance learning , he qualified as a state scientist and did military service in the National People's Army . From 1977 Zachow belonged to the secretariat of the district executive committee of the CDU Potsdam . From 1978 to 1984 he was deputy chairman of the district board of the CDU Potsdam. On February 16, 1984 he was elected chairman of the Frankfurt (Oder) district board of the CDU and at the 16th party congress on October 16, 1987, he was elected to the main board of the CDU. In November 1989 he was replaced by Herbert Schirmer .
