Ernst Eckardt (politician)

Ernst Eckardt (born August 26, 1922 in Leipzig , † February 19, 2002 in Berlin ) was a German politician and a functionary of the GDR CDU . Among other things, he was chairman of the CDU district committee in Frankfurt (Oder) .

Life

Eckardt was born the son of a craftsman . He attended the Petri School in Leipzig and learned the profession of shipbuilding engineer. On September 1, 1940, he became a member of the NSDAP .

In 1947 he joined the CDU. Eckardt was active in the school service. In 1954 he became deputy chairman of the council of the district I in Leipzig, from 1955 to 1958 he was deputy chairman of the council of the district of Leipzig . He was also a member of the Leipzig District Assembly . After studying at the University of Transportation in Dresden with a degree in engineering and economics, he worked for several years at the Inland Shipping Directorate. From 1958 to 1961 he was deputy chairman of the CDU district association in Suhl . In August 1961 he took over the chairmanship of the CDU district association Frankfurt / Oder, which he held until 1963. From 1964 to 1989 he was chairman of the CDU district association Berlin-Weißensee .

From 1969 he worked as a district councilor for the housing industry and from 1970 as a member of the city district assembly in Berlin-Weißensee. From 1975 he was head of the “Complex Technology” department, then as a group leader for market work and needs assessment in the Inland Navigation Directorate in Berlin in the VEB Kombinat inland navigation and waterways (KBW).
