Herman Le Compte (born April 26, 1929 in Aalst , Belgium , † January 3, 2008 in Knokke , Belgium) was a Belgian physician , gerontologist and gerontologist .

Life

Le Compte attended a Jesuit-run school in his hometown of Aalst until he graduated from high school. After completing his medical degree, he worked in the 1950s for several years in what was then the Belgian Congo colony . Upon his return he specialized in geriatrics and gerontology. From 1970 he became known as a “ vitamin doctor” through his books and numerous television appearances, through the development of a special treatment with brewer's yeast and vitamin C , the goal of which was to be “1000 years old” . Le Compte was excluded from the Belgian Medical Association in 1975, which he always referred to as "the Horde" . After 20 years of trials, he was partially rehabilitated by the European Court of Human Rights and was able to return to his profession.

Le Compte wrote several books about aging, his work "We Children of Methuselah: Old Age Opportunities for Young Society" was first published in 1978 in German.

Herman Le Compte was married to the sculptor Begga D'Haese, and the couple had 10 children, including one adopted Congolese child.
