Herman Musaph

Herman Musaph (born January 7, 1915 in Amsterdam , † November 18, 1992 ) was a Dutch doctor, sexologist, author and university professor.

Musaph was born in Amsterdam. As a child of a Jewish family, he was taken to a concentration camp, which he was the only one in his family to survive. Musaph studied medicine at the University of Amsterdam . After successfully completing his degree, he got a job as a university lecturer in the Netherlands. Musaph focused on the subject of dermatology and published several works in this area. From 1977 Musaph taught as a professor at the University of Utrecht .

Musaph founded the Dutch Society for Sexual Reform . He wrote the Handbook of Sexology .

Musaph is dedicated to the Herman Musaph Award , which is presented annually by the European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry (ESDaP).
