Herman Trier

Herman Martin Trier (born May 10, 1845 in Copenhagen ; † September 1, 1925 there ) was a Danish educator and politician . From 1901 to 1905 he was President of the Folketing .

Herman Trier was married to Emma, ​​nee Adler (1855–1912). In 1862 he began studying at the Von Wẹsten'schen Institute . From 1882 to 1907 he worked as a teacher in advanced training for workers. From 1886 to 1918 he was a board member at Dansk Sløjdforening . From 1912 to 1918 he was director of the teacher training seminar Dansk Sløjdlærerskole .

Trier was initially politically active in the liberal Venstre , in 1905 he supported the founding of the left-wing liberal Radical Venstre . From 1884 to 1887 and again from 1890 to 1909 he was a member of the Folketing. He was also active as a local politician and from 1893 to 1917 a member of the Copenhagen city parliament, of which he was president from 1898 to 1907.

He was awarded the Danish Cross of Merit in Gold. In Copenhagen the "Herman Triers Plads" was named after him.
