The Hermann Löns Monument is a listed memorial stone in the Hasserode district of Wernigerode , Harz district , in Saxony-Anhalt . It was built in 1929 and is a reminder that Wernigerode is referred to as the colorful city on the Harz after Hermann Löns .

location

The memorial is located off the main tourist routes on the Blockshornberg on Hermann-Löns-Weg in a small park not far from the confluence of Hans-Hoffmann-Weg. From the location there is a view over Hasserode towards Brocken and the city center of Wernigerode and the northern villages of the former county of Wernigerode .

The memorial stone, an approx. Three meter high granite boulder, was erected on behalf of and at the expense of the Harz Club Wernigerode under the direction of Wernigerode city building councilor Wilhelm Deistel. The inauguration took place on the morning of August 4, 1929 in the presence of Ernst Löns, the poet's brother. This gave the speech. Then the stone was unveiled with his brother's plaque and plaque. The plaque and plaque were designed and manufactured by Hans Bülow.

The 41-year-old editor-in-chief and Heide poet Hermann Löns spent four weeks with his family in Wernigerode in May and June 1907 and coined the term Die Bunte Stadt am Harz . The article that Hermann Löns published on September 30, 1909, was entitled "The colorful city on the Harz".

The memorial stone is recorded in the local monument register of Wernigerode under the registration number 094 02519.
