Hermann (Bremen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hermann (reign: 1032-1035) was an archbishop of the Archdiocese of Hamburg-Bremen .

Little is known about his life. Before his office in Bremen, he was a provost of the Halberstadt cathedral chapter . He did not appear as imperial prince and mission bishop. Adam von Bremen reports about him that he rarely visited his district and when he did, it was in the form of a military excursion. He had administered his office "without wrongdoing like the dove, but also without cleverness like the snakes".
